Although we are surrounded by technology and gadgets to make life easier, there are a few recipes that just taste better when made by grinding on stone. or using a mortar and pestle. Any recipe with garlic for sure was made of grinding stone. Somehow the oils and flavors from herbs and spices are extracted during grinding, and are not over ground and the taste is deliciously fresh and rustic.
This Stone Ground Mint Chutney recipe is one such example and a great recipe to use with our Indian Grinding Stone or Ammikallu

Ingredients

Chutney
- 5 mint leaves
- 1 cup cilantro
- 1 fresh green chili
- salt to taste
- 1 tbs lemon juice
Stone Ground Mint Chutney Directions
- Place the garlic and green chilies, along with the salt and lemon juice on the stone and begin grinding by rocking the rolling pin back and forth over the ingredients. You can also apply a dragging motion (without rolling) of the pin every once in a while to grind finer.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and keep grinding until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Enjoy the chutney with your favorite food!
